Ants are one of the most common calls we take from Brisbane, especially from late spring through summer. A line of ants across the kitchen floor or up the bathroom wall is the part you see, but the colony itself is usually outside, under paving, in garden beds or inside a wall cavity. When you ring, we ask where the ants are, how big they are and what they seem to be after. Some ants go for sugar, others for grease or protein, and some nest inside walls or under tiles. Before the visit, keep the benches clean and food sealed, but hold off spraying the trails with household sprays for a couple of days. Ants that are still active are the ones that carry bait back to the colony, so the trail helps the crew find where they are coming from.
